 Myth: Bad DNA from the Watchers made it onto the ark, surviving the flood

From a Dead Sea Scroll, known as the Genesis Apocryphon,

“Then I, Noah, became a man, and I held fast to truth and clung to […] and I married Amzara his daughter, and she became pregnant from me and bore me three sons […] for my sons I took wives from my brother’s daughters, and my daughters I gave to my brother’s sons, according to the eternal law”. (1Q20)
The Genesis Apocryphon is demonstrably old. This Dead Sea Scroll parchment has been dated to the three centuries prior to the first century AD. It tells us that Noah got wives for his three sons from Noah's brother's family. They got on the ark lacking in any tainted blood from the Watchers. There is no authoritative, ancient Scripture that tells us bad DNA from the Watcher angels survived the flood.

The truth is, it is Moses who tells us the giants after the flood came from later angels who fell into sin at that later time. Moses tells us,

“The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man”. (Genesis 6:4)
The later giants came from where? They came about when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men. As it turns out, the Book of Enoch also talks about there would be angels sinning after the flood. It says,
“And it shall come to pass in those days that elect and holy children will descend from the high heaven, and their seed will become one with the children of men.” (Enoch 39:1)

Speculation can be fun, but unless we have authoritative, ancient Scripture upon which to take our stand, speculation is just speculation. {Top}
